Jackass 3D - Phantom Shots

Oh it's a sad day indeed for NegativeSpaces... Yes I'm actually plugging Jackass 3D. Much like Step Up 3D (also MTV Films), terrible mind-waster that if you can get over that fact, the producers really pushed the technology to come up with shots that are interesting from a purely technical point of view. You know what you're getting yourself into with something like this - poop, vomit, etc. I laughed a lot though and didn't feel as bad as I thought I would about shelling out $17.50 to see it. The movie itself isn't really 3D as 90% of it was shot flat with prosumer video equipment and then hacked into 3D with conversion software or not converted at all. Kind of shocking how much of this movie as actually 2D. It looked pretty bad. However - the first and last 5 minutes of the movie were filmed stereoscopically in slow motion with Phantom HD Gold cameras and the results were f-n mind blowing. Stereoscopic slow motion photography is absolutely fascinating and is something that I'd like to explore myself artistically. Sadly as of now, MTV Films is one of the few willing to spend the money on it. The results speak for themselves.
